PET PRESERVATION (TAXIDERMY)

Losing a pet is hard. For years, these wonderful creatures have become part of our families. Their passing can feel like losing a family member. Grieving that loss can also be difficult and people handle it in their own way. If you find yourself looking for a unique way to honor the memory of your family pet, you may want to consider pet preservation or taxidermy.

Pet taxidermy is a way to provide full preservation of your pet. With taxidermy, pet owners do not have to say goodbye through burial or cremation. If you have loved your pets for years and you want them to continue to be a physical presence in your home or office, taxidermy may be a good option.

Nearly any animal, cat, dog, hamster, iguana, parrot – can be preserved.

As long as  the proper steps are taken, you can take months to decide what happens – like whether you want to move forward or what pose you want your pet to be in.

THE PROCESS

Taxidermy is the art of preserving an animal's body in mounted position. During the process, the pets’ internal organs are removed, and the animal’s coat is added to a mold that best fits the size and proportions of your pet. It’s very common to pose animals in a lifelike state. They can be sitting, standing, have their eyes open or closed, or even posed in a way more unique to your pet.

The entire process can take anywhere between 4-12 months depending on the animal, its size, and what kind of work needs to be done.

When your pet is finally returned to you, it may look even more lifelike than it did in its last days. With some simple maintenance from you, your pet can look alive for decades to come. It’s a chance to help you achieve closure.
